A tad ambitious, perhaps?

At least people will know he's playing verve songs

Aside from the Manchester venue, those arenas range from 12-15,000 capacity. Does he really have that kind of fanbase in the UK?

You sure? I'd say 8000 at best, which isn't bad considering. No way there was 15000.

Don't think echo arena can hold that many for a concert even if it's packed to the rafter's (which it wasn't).

Yeah, looking at the videos & photos I've seen, I don't think it was that many. the floors looked packed, but the seated areas looked sparse at the top. I'd gather half capacity. Which, again, isn't bad, but far from a sell out.

Don't know why you're banging on about Black Submarine. RA just had what appear to be two successful shows and you're going on about whether Black Submarine could do the same. He has 5 solo albums under his belt & draws heavy from the Verve's back catalogue. They've released one & don't trade on their old band's name. So, they're pretty much polar opposites at this point.

And that didn't look like an 18,000 crowd. Any links to show that it was 18,000?

Constantly ridiculed by fans of verve who are as bitter as Mcabe, such a shame that this comeback has been such a success http://www.music-news.com/review/UK/122 ... d-Ashcroft

I think he's ridiculed by fans of Verve because his solo career has been pretty shitty musically. But if you like it, fair play.
McCabe's been anything but bitter. He's been gracious in most instances. If anything, it's been Richard who's been quite negative when discussing the Verve & their history. I for one would be bitter if my band mate belittled my contributions to our band, but that's just me. And Richard's the only one who didn't participate in the reissues, right? But who's bitter?
Still not seeing proof that he had 15,000 or 18,000 there.
Anyway, welcome aboard Wally.

Was his band, too, no? He'd be nowhere without it.
He wouldn't have had to be in the same room with them to have participated. Could have been done via e-mail. So why not give his side on the recording process or how stuff came together? I'd say he's the bitter one, possibly due to the band forever shadowing anything he has done or will ever do under his own name. Five solo albums in & he's still asked about The Verve in virtually every interview, still having to play those same songs in every set.

His twitter is still active (not that it matters) but his comment about shutting his Twitter had nothing to do with Richard!!
Still, would love to know where you're getting these attendance figures. I assume in two days those amounts will be "He played two glorious shows in front of 40,000!"
