Is the future bright or a trip?

...and just like that, the future passed.

errrrr :?:

for the first 3 mins, i thought a really poor hoax given the vocals and lack of cohesion

but from 3.19, it starts to sound like richard

and the rhythm section also seems genuine from about the 3 min stage, especially the bass

and from 4 mins it all just kicks in together

the first half makes me think "hoax" ... but if i just heard the second half I'd definitely think genuine

Does this have anything to do with one of the possible Forth tracks called Future Trip?

If it was genuine (and by the 6th or 7th listen I was convinced it was), it was definitely from the Forth sessions. It was very much in the style (and sound quality) of the Thaw Sessions, the recording starting mid-track and then fading out after 6/7 minutes.

The description provided in the YouTube content summary was:

"Ain't The Future A Trip" written by the Verve
Unmastered/Unmixed/Unreleased/Unedited/Improvisation.

Where did you hear about this track?

In the early part of the recording (the really poor part), the singer kept repeating the line "Ain't the Future a Trip" (in this really bizarre, out-of-tune falsetto).

When they reunited in 2007, they mentioned it in one of their interviews. But I can't remember where (nme, Q, mojo??)... Some of the names I do remember are Spy Movie, Future Trip, Bauhaus....

Yeah, I looked it up. It was mentioned as a possible track back then.

So almost certainly genuine

Interesting! I'd love to listen to it from the 3 minute mark that you've mentioned.

Yeah, i only listened to it 3 times. I'd say it was from the Forth sessions, if true. Felt the same in the beginning wasn't sure if it was them, midway, it does seem to be.
In the video it also said, under the credits, Universal Music Group.
Wonder if this is being done for a reissue, as I believe they handled the others.

Now I wish people in this thread really hyped it up so we could see you meltdown.

I'm surprised the FF doesn't have a dozen copies of it by now.

Actually, the last couple of minutes (once they got their shit together) were pretty decent ... not spectacular, but decent

you could hear a song building out of it ... was interesting to hear how just a complete mess slowly builds with cohesion until they find something musically and go with it

Holy ****, what's the blackboard from? I just looked at it closer and saw that These People was originally intended as a coda for Blue Pacific Ocean?!? Talk about a best/worst mashup...

Did it sound a bit similar to "Ain't the Future So Bright"?
