Thought it would be good to have a thread for scans of any reviews the reissues pick up.

Mojo has 4/5 reviews for each, and a little Nick McCabe interview too. Didn't get a chance to buy it yet.

Reissue Reviews. that is some funny, sad ****. I'd feel better sending them money on Kickstarter for some food or rent...

Pitchfork and other music sites review re-issues all the time, nothing new. Don't think it's a plug at all.

I would be more interested in reading the demographic of those who buy the re-issues. Young hipsters will buy them if Pitchfork slaps a "Best New Reissue" tag on it.

It makes sense for these to have reviews given the wealth of extras on them. Even if the audio is crap compared to the originals due to Potter slamming them, I'm still interested in the DVD. If it has a 5.1 track at least those are usually fully dynamic.

What ever happened to the Twitter Q&A? Seems like they never answered a single question about mastering.

I think they were waiting until near the reissue release to post responses, or atleast that's what I think was implied. I know a few of the questions I asked were liked by that Twitter page.

Mojo gives both 4 stars. A short, 4 or 5 q&a write up with Nick, also.

A collective 7/10 in Uncut. Only a small piece. Got Mojo, nice to see it get 2 and a bit pages. Ok article but doesn't really go into any depth about the contents of the deluxe packages.

I've got the Mojo review. yeah, it really doesn't go into much detail regarding the package, but a solid review on the albums.

I'll try & post it here later when I get home.

Verve reviews start on Page 104.
Couldn't figure out how to capture just the two pages so it's the whole issue.

Sure, not a problem.
You know, I didn't have a lot of time, but I knew that you could scan it ...

Does anyone get the feeling no-one has actually listened to these sets yet? Am I missing parts of the reviews?

I hate how the bonus material is rarely discussed in reviews, and when it is the critic usually says something like "they're of little interest to all but the hardcore fan and will probably be played just once." It's not helpful at all. Who do they think is going to be buying multi-disc reissues of albums filled with b-sides, outtakes, live stuff, and demos anyway? This stuff is geared towards fans, and the bonus stuff is always the most notable element of these reissues anyway.

Right? No mention of the remaster/audio quality at all...

This is always the case with the Verve, and Richard's solo albums. They always gotta say the same **** over and over again, you know the band's history, how the previous albums were made, etc. There's nothing new.

Pitchfork might have something interesting to say, that is if you like music reviews that are written by English major would-be writers, typical New York pretensions. They usually bring up audio quality in reissue reviews, although it ain't much.

But who cares about these music sites anyway?

I'd rather read what fans of the band have to say about them, they are the voice that matter the most to me.

I have Amazon Prime so I'm hoping to have ASIH deluxe by this week-end, will definitely post a review of the audio quality and remastering but the first thing that's going on is the Camden DVD. I'm champing at the bit for that bad boy!!

Sorry if this has been mentioned already, but the Rolling People and Come On demos on the ANS third disc, have those been heard before via bootlegs or leaks or is this the first release of them? Will be cool to hear them in their more raw format before the hyper production of UH.

Yes, Come On was on the Alt ANS and that version the vocal sounds like RA was eating broken glass and gravel. So you've never seen the Camden Town Hall video?

I have the fan-shared DVD boot, but I'm hoping the official release will be noticeably superior picture and audio quality.

This is the text file from the folder I have:

Quote:
Verve
Camden Town Hall
London, England
Oct. 23, 1992

Video Format: MPEG-2 (PAL), 704x576, 25 FPS, 9586 Kbps (VBR)
Audio Format: AC-3, 2 Channels, 48.0 KHz, 256 Kbps

Slide Away
All In The Mind
She's A Superstar
Staring Stranger
A Man Called Sun
South Pacific
Already There
The Sun, The Sea
Gravity Grave

3.27 GB

I think I've lost quite a bit of the Verve shows I used to have, this is all that's left in my Verve folder on my 2TB mirror:

Best version of the song for me, the way Nick comes back in after the long pause is volcanic.
