How the ****** can people be such assholes? I hope the audience drawed and quartered that worthless sack of **** afterward.

The thing that really shocks me is how goddamn good they sounded too... Ian's voice was in top fucking form.

A close friend of mine went but only caught the end of Here So Rain. She said they sounded great and got a better response than the Feb. tour. She was well gutted she missed their set with the early start time. TBF the band did post on their FB and Twitter what time they were going on stage.

Gonna give this tour a miss. I'm utterly peppered.
Will wait for October.

From today; WOLVERHAMPTON GIG CANCELLED. Hey everybody. We just got to Wolverhampton to find a flyer saying Ian McCulloch has lost his voice and therefore Echo and the Bunnymen have postponed the gig. You would have thought this era of instant communication we wouldn't have had to make epic journeys to find this out by photocopied A4 but there you go. Hopefully none of you will have set out for this yet. Disappointing all round. Apologies. X

They offered to play the gig anyway, but the venue had sent staff home already.

That really was very good of them. It's what music fans would hope for and proves that's what they are. There's almost no worse gig experience than turning up to find it's cancelled. Almost certainly spoils your night.

(Edit) Am seriously impressed by this (from FB):

"Black Submarine will play a free show on Tuesday 13th May 2014 at The Cluny, 36 Lime St, Newcastle, NE1 2PQ
Amelia Tucker from the band will open with an acoustic set at 8.30 with Black Submarine taking to the stage at 9.15 - 10.15pm
All welcome especially ticket holders for the postponed show at the Tyne Theatre. Given the disappointment of Ian McCulloch losing his voice and the subsequent cancellation of Echo and the Bunnymen's Newcastle appearance, it's the least we can do. Black Sub x"

Shows their desire to play.
A very commendable act. Nice one.

Whole tour is off til June it seems;

Attention everybody... Some of you with tickets for tonight may already have been notified, but we'd like to officially announce that despite our best efforts tonight's show, as indeed all of the UK shows on this tour, will be postponed until June. Please bear with us a few days while we sort out the new shows, and once again we can not apologise enough to you all - especially to those people who have made travel plans and special arrangements. Having called off the Newcastle and Wolverhampton shows we were hoping to be back in action tonight in Manchester and looking forward to these shows, especially as they were sold out and we'd be seeing so many of you. We got to soundcheck this afternoon and Ian's voice is still not right, with him developing a throat infection. All of your original tickets will still be valid, but you can contact your ticket seller for further details should you wish. Guys, we know this is disappointing news, and believe us when we say we're utterly heartbroken and hope you understand decisions like this are not made lightly at all. We're looking forward to coming back very soon to play these shows and hope you can all still make it. Once more, our humblest apologies and we'll see you very soon. For now, we're sure you join us in wishing Ian a quick recovery so we can play the new record for you - which now of course you'll be able to hear before the gigs. All the best everyone and thank you.

A few mates of mine were not happy.
Texting me from Manchester, desperate for some sort of alternative option as per the Newcastle show.

Gutted for all involved. Bit baffled by lack of notice today, with ongoing problem for a few days.

Would be a big ask to get another gig such short-notice (could have been a real coup for a local venue though)

Wednesday night, short notice is very unlikely.

It looked a goer this morning - at text my mates at 1pm, they were buzzing. In MCR, sunshine and beer garden.
The text messages I received at 6:15pm were a little grim. I would have been there but for family commitments.

Yeah, glad I didn't get on the Concord for this round of shows...I would of gone batshit crazy if I flew all the way from the states for that ********, which is completely out of the bands control anyway.

It's a safer bet to just see them when they are headlining anyway. Longer set times, etc. I just feel bad for all of them. Having to drive/make a commitment/plan a mini tour, etc. and then having all of these disappointments one after another. How frustrating that must be! I am frustrated just reading their updates! I feel for them. **** happens....but it will all workout in the end. :)

It's crazy when you think about it... all those resources / time wasted and thousands of people's lives affected possibly due to something as dumb as one dude not being able to stop smoking / drinking his voice into oblivion. Or maybe I'm being presumptuous and he actually takes really good care of himself and it was just a random case of getting sick or something... :| In any case, hope he gets better soon and stays healthy.

From Amelia regarding the setlists:

Quote:
Leamington Spa and Oxford were the same:
- See Through You
- Is This All We Feel
- Lover
- Heart First
- You've Never Been Here
- Here So Rain

The Newcastle Gig began with my somewhat badly-delivered set:
- Aint No Key (new one)
- Scissors Paper Stone, with Nick
- Move Me a Mountain, with Nick and Dav
- I Like Silence

Then the main set:
- Is This All We Feel
- See Through You
- Heart First
- Lover
- You've Never Been Here
- Here So Rain

Awesome collection of tracks! She also mentioned the October setlists are likely to include the new stuff they've been working on. Onward!
