Interesting interview from John Leckie about recording Storm in Heaven. Was nice to hear Starsail on the radio!

48.40 mins in but the whole show is worth a listen.

Thanks so much for posting this! The entire program is fucking brilliant.

I seriously don't get why people slag off "britpop" so much. There was just soooo much good music from that movement, as anyone who listens to this program has to agree. I guess it's mostly reaction against the label. Personally, as an American in the current decade it's way easier for me to just say "I love britpop" rather than "I love late 80s / early 90s British indie music, but wait, major label stuff was actually really good then too, and uhhh, shoegaze and madchester and triphop and blah blah blah". I get that it's pretty crazy to mix bands like Suede, Kitchens of Distinction, and Massive Attack together, but I feel like it's really just shorthand these days.

Agreed. I do find it funny how all the bands form that era hate being described as 'Britpop'. Just deal with it, you were Britpop, nothing to be ashamed about.
